The Durham Performing Arts Center has several entertaining performances lined up this holiday season.
Tues. Dec. 1 through Sun. Dec. 6 The Hills Are Alive! A brand new production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC, directed by three-time Tony Award® winning Director Jack O’Brien,
is coming to DPAC. The spirited, romantic and beloved musical story of
Maria and the Von Trapp Family will once again thrill audiences with its
Tony®, Grammy® and Academy Award® winning Best Score, including “My
Favorite Things,” “Do- Re-Mi,” “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “Edelweiss” and
the title song. 2015 marks the 50th anniversary of the film version, which
continues to be the most successful movie musical in history.
The number one selling duo in music history, Daryl Hall and John Oates, come to the DPAC for one fantastic SOLD OUT live performance on Dec. 8 at 8 pm. Daryl Hall and John Oates are at the height
of their powers making their own kind of soul, with a new generation of
musicians recognizing not only their historic track record of success,
but also their continuing influence and achievements.
With the addition of a fantastic new illusion last season, Carolina Ballet’s The Nutcracker is more exciting than ever. Marvel as characters levitate, disappear,
and reappear from thin air. A family favorite for more than a decade, The Nutcracker
will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat wondering, “How did they do that?!”
This full-company production features Carolina Ballet’s world-class dancers bringing Tchaikovsky’s enchanting score to life. Carolina Ballet is sure to put a little extra wonder in your holiday season with this magical production. Sat. Dec. 12 at 2 pm and 7 pm and Sun. Dec. 13 at 2 pm.
