New Durham Restaurants Opening in 2016!  In 2013, Southern Living Magazine named Durham, “The Tastiest Town in the South.”  Durham continues to live up to that title with several new restaurants coming.

Durham Chef Matt Kelly (from Mateo and Vin Rouge restaurants), partnering with Josh DeCarolis, will open Mothers and Sons, an Italian trattoria next to Mateo bar de Tapas.  The same building will also house Lucky’s Deli, a delicatessen with Jewish and Italian influences.

Popular biscuit and donut shop, Rise Biscuits and Donuts, will be opening up a new location in downtown Durham on Foster Street.  Their donut menu features an assortment of old school, new school, and specialty donuts with interesting and unusual flavors that change monthly.

Chef/Owner Gary Brooks of Pizzeria Toro will open two new restaurants in 2016.  The first will be a diner in the Jack Tar Hotel and the second will be a dinner-only restaurant on Parrish Street.

In early 2016, Cocoa Cinnamon will open the doors of its second Durham location at Hillsborough Road and Trent Drive.  The popular coffee shop is known for its unique flavor combinations using coffees, teas, spices, and chocolates.

Tyler Huntington, the founder of Tyler’s Restaurant and Taproom, plans to open Two Doors Distilling Company inside of The Rickhouse, an event space that overlooks the Historic Durham Athletic Park.  It will be a 4,000-square-foot distillery
